DkIT Expands EU Education Partnerships via MOU with Film School Network

10 August 2019

The School of Informatics & Creative Arts at DkIT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with leading European film education consortium, the Film School Network. The MOU will see DkIT develop stronger links with education partners across Europe in the area of film and television production.

The Film School Network (FSN), is a networking project which aims to promote the exchange of ideas and practices surrounding Film Education between film schools all around the world. The main purpose of the project is that of creating a wider, transnational knowledge around filmmaking, in order to better train the future members of the industry.

As part of the new partnership, DkIT lecturers on the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production, Lorcan Dunne and Kenneth Sloane have been invited to Italy to participate in the inaugural FSN Congress, 6th-8th September 2019. They will jointly present on the topics “Film teaching and the future of Cinema making.” and “Embedding Industry Practice in the Academic Arena." Both lecturers have extensive experience in the film industry and have a particular focus on practice-led teaching. The overall theme for the conference is “Film teaching and the future of Cinema: ethic, consciousness, audiences and markets”. For more information, please visit www.metro-polis.it/en/film-school-network.

DkIT will also screen two short films at the FSN Congress,  ‘Sky's the Limit’ and ‘Ghost Estate’. The films were produced by third year students at the Institute and been well received on the festival circuit to date.
